Oneida Health recognizes that patient education is an important part of the entire care giving process. Knowledge about their own health, specific illnesses, treatments, and expected outcome helps our patients become self-sufficient.
Our multidisciplinary approach to education has resulted in less time spent in the hospital, fewer complications, and a return to normal activities sooner than patients who receive no teaching.
Our team approach is standardized and begins from the time the patient is admitted to the hospital until they are discharged. Our staff is specially trained in assessing and educating our patients in their health care needs.
Teaching is achieved through a wide variety of educational resource methods and is tailored to each patient’s or family’s needs.
Pre-op teaching is available by special appointment for all patients scheduled for inpatient surgical procedures.
