Oneida, NY – On June 21, Pedro Del Pino, MD of Oneida Surgical Group will be providing a free hernia-screening event for the public hosted by Oneida Health from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm in the medical office located at 357 Genesee Street in Oneida.
Attendees of the event will be able to meet with Hernia Specialist, Dr. Del Pino, for a personalized consult and physical examination and learn about advanced treatment options including the state-of-the-art da Vinci Robotic Surgery, which is provided at Oneida Health Hospital. Dr. Del Pino has over 25 years of experience as a general and surgical specialist. Walk-ins are welcome at the event, but registration is also encouraged due to limited space.
“Hernias are very common and many patients often wait too long to get them treated which commonly results in a more invasive procedure and extended recovery time,” said Dr. Del Pino. “We provide free hernia screening events to get the conversation started and to educate patients about new treatment options that provide less pain and a faster recovery. Concerns about the procedure and recovery time are often one of the most common reasons patients delay hernia repair.”
Common symptoms related to a hernia include swelling, a bulge or pain in the abdomen or groin area, pain or discomfort when lifting, bending over, or coughing, weakness, pressure, or a feeling of heaviness in your abdomen. Dr. Del Pino noted that though these symptoms are most often associated with a hernia, they can also be related to other health conditions. “There are symptoms that are most commonly associated with a hernia, which can be further identified with a physical examination. During a hernia screening if we find something that is either not a hernia or not conclusively a hernia, we can help the patient get the follow-up care they need.”
